Greetings from the organising committee of APSICON 2019.
At the outset I would like to thank all the members of the association for giving me an opportunity to serve the plastic surgery fraternity as president of APSI.
54th Annual Conference of the Association of Plastic Surgeons of India (APSI) is being jointly hosted by the Maharashtra and Odisha association of plastic surgeons at Bhubaneswar, Odisha from December 11 to 15, 2019. To host the conference in Odisha has been a very emotional wish of mine. I cannot thank enough all those associated with organising the conference for agreeing enthusiastically to it and being a part of this endeavour.
Theme of the conference is ‘Standardisation in Training and Practice’. It is an effort to raise the standard of the whole Indian plastic surgery community by showcasing the best practices and encouraging others to adopt them.
We are trying our level best to get the best of the best of international faculty, across the subspecialties, to grace the event and share their pearls of wisdom with us.
The national faculty would be invited from across the country. Apart from the experienced and known names, we will make an extra effort to promote junior faculty who are doing great work in their respective fields.
The scientific committee will pay special attention to make the split sessions also of very high quality. We will try and include as many free papers as possible preceded by lead lectures, panel discussions and debates
Bhubaneswar is a ‘fresh’ city as far as hosting the APSICON is concerned. The city is situated close to the east coast of India. It is well connected to all major cities of the country by air. The towns of Puri and Konark, only 60kms away, are popular tourist destinations. They are blessed with amazing ancient temples and pristine beaches, offering an amazing mixture of spirituality and serenity. The Chilika lake, a 1100 square kilometres brackish water lagoon, destination for numerous migratory birds at the time of our event, is around 60 kms away. The state of Odisha has a proud artistic tradition reflected in its temples, handicrafts, cuisine and dance forms, all of which we intend to put on full display on the evenings of the event. We can promise that your accompanying family and friends will have a great trip.
Savings from APSICON 2019 will be utilised for creating infrastructure for training and teaching in plastic surgery.
We look forward to welcome you in Bhubaneshwar with the assurance of a gala time in terms of both business and pleasure.
Warm regards,
Dr. Amresh Baliarsing
